Dr. Anand Kumble, Ph.D. is the co-founder of Pictor. Dr. Kumble obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Bombay, following which he did post-doctoral work at Stanford University in California with Nobel Laureate Prof. Arthur Kornberg. He was previously Director of Research at Pointilliste (Mountain View, California) where he was instrumental in developing products based on a proprietary mix-and-sort microarray technology for antibody library displays. Prior to that, Dr. Kumble headed the Process Development group at Genometrix, Inc. (The Woodlands, TX) where his team developed assays for measuring transcript and protein levels, and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping using microarrays. He was also instrumental in developing robotic systems for array manufacturing and high throughput sample processing. Prior to joining Genometrix, Dr. Kumble was Head of Functional Genomics at Genesis Research (Auckland, New Zealand) with responsibility for the development and implementation of strategies to identify novel drug targets for immunological diseases.
Dr. Sarita Kumble, Ph.D. founded Pictor Limited in Auckland, New Zealand to commercialize a novel multiplexed and miniaturized assay technology for human and veterinary clinical applications.
Dr. Kumble obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Bombay, following which her post-doctoral work at Stanford University in California led to the identification of novel esophageal cancer markers to monitor treatment efficacy and cancer progression. She was previously at Pointilliste, a proteomics company in Mountain View, California where she developed products for multiplex testing of inflammatory markers that were commercialized for the research market. Prior to that, Dr. Kumble taught at universities in Houston, Texas and Auckland, New Zealand developing new courses in Biotechnology for post-graduate students.
Jim McLean is a company director with 30 years experience in manufacturing, financial services, and science businesses. He was a partner with Ernst and Young until 1994 when he joined Genesis Research and Development. He has been a fulltime director since 2003 including most recently as Charmain of R J Hill Laboratories, Mesynthes Limited, Prevar Limited and the Allan Wilson Centre for Molecular Ecology and Evolution.

Dr. Lee Mathias, DHSc is a director of Pictor. Lee has many years of experience as a director in public health services including Crown Health Enterprises and Hospital and Health Services, ACC, social enterprises (NGOs) and private companies.
Lee’s entrepreneurial activity includes start-up companies Birthcare Auckland Limited, the first private maternity company to contract with the public sector in NZ and Labtests Auckland Limited which won the public contract to provide community laboratory services for the people of Auckland.
Prior to that Lee was the General Manager for Strategic Planning with Auckland Healthcare Services (A+), Manager for Clinical Support Services for South Auckland and Principal Nurse at Middlemore Hospital. Lee maintains a portfolio of lectureships with AUT, University of the South Pacific and Auckland University.
Lee Mathias is a registered nurse and holds a BA from Massey University, an MBA from Auckland University and DHSc from AUT University, Auckland, New Zealand. She is an accredited fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand and an Ass. Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Healthcare Managers.
Roy Austin has over 30 years investment banking experience across a wide range of industries covering mergers, acquisitions, divestments, leveraged buy-outs, capital raising and IP commercialization. His practical experience also includes participation in local and international manufacturing, marketing and European and New Zealand based private equity funds.
Roy is Chairman of Cure Kids and Cure Kids Ventures a SCIF backed private equity firm.
